Matt's Statement
This is the 3rd version of Mattsearles.com that I've published to the web.. but its not the 3rd version I've made.. and as I sit here typing this... well this version, as of this moment, is meant to be a simple version.. a version that will get refined over time.. and hopefully evolve into something a lot more interesting then what it is today.
The purpose of this site is to "put myself out there." I suppose Mattsearles.com is a marketing hub, built for the disparate audiences that I think I need to be targeting... in order to make a living from my art and thought and lets just say Bliss. But I also see it as art... As Fine Art.....
I'm excited about it in a way that's to be excited about the birth of a whole new medium. The internet and web design and all of this stuff isn't really all that new.. I mean it's been around for a few years now.. In some circles much is known about the Internet.. but to approach this space as an artist... to try and think deeply about it.. one doesn't have to go too too far to find ones self in a space that it would seem no one had traveled to before.
On a really basic level what I want to do is to make an uncompromising
creative, artistic, and intellectual vision commercially viable. Normally
I seems that things like art and commerce have an uneasy relationship..
and so it is that this is at the center of what I'm trying to do.. I'm
trying to explore how you might use business to empower art.

Web Standards and Accessibility
Web Standards: I'm trying to make this site as accessible as possible.. I'm trying to conform to web standards as much as possible. I do, however, view the design and development of this site as a learning adventure.. often times experimental.. so in part its about my abilities to make this stuff accessible and to think through accessibility issues... Which, at the moment, I'm a bit of a babe in the woods when it comes to this stuff.. So I expect this to evolve...
The other issue is that I'm a multimedia artist.. and my creative vision.. the vision is paramount.. and so what drives the experience.. in terms of my aesthetic thinking.. its probably best if it jumps around from one sense to another.. which makes it's accessibility issues a whole lot more complicated...
So I expect there to be issues with regard to standards and accessibility..
my hope is to get the balance as right as possible.. and wherever possible
make it the best experience for the widest possible audience as possible..
At least in terms of technology and accessibility issues... the content
is another matter.

Technology
Technology used: For the most part it's Macromedia Studio 8 at the moment: Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Freehand... I'm looking at PHP and MySQL.. Any video I do is likely to be done in Final Cut Express with a little help from After Effects... Though there is some chance that some of it was done with Premier... 3D Animation could have been done with Hash's Animation Master, Blender, or Strata Studio.. My sound studio is a little more complicated: Cubase, Digital Performer, Live, NI - Komplete: Reaktor, FM-7, Absynth, Kontakt, Guitar Rig, etc.. Reason, Storm.. and various other things.. Oh, and I'm planning on using Flex a good deal.
